BENIN ARMLETS

Description
Made using the lost wax method of casting used across West Africa. Originally used as a form of currency providing status to the wearer they were often forged onto a bride’s arm as part of her wedding dowry. Their value lay in the metal itself as well as the amount of ornamentation found on the bangle. Superb décor pieces the natural oxidation of the metal creates varying subtle hues.
